Experience the Rich Culture and History of Crete This Summer!

National Dance Workshop
March 14-16, 2025 (PYA)

The PAA Culture & Education program organized a three-day Cretan Dance Workshop in New York with the support of the Region of Crete. More than 60 PYA members from across the United States traveled to participate in this event.  The successful workshop provided participants with effective dance teaching techniques while providing them with the historical and cultural background of each Cretan dance.  This will enable them to return to their local districts and chapters and teach with greater depth and accuracy.

A heartfelt thank you to the local Cretan chapters of greater New York and New Jersey area for hosting this wonderful learning opportunity event.
The workshops took place at the Omonia Cretan Association. Saturday evening, a dance event took place at the Minos Cretan Association.

PAA/PYA Online Book Club--Starts in January, 2026

The Pancretan Association of America is excited to announce the launch of our new Online Book Club, a unique opportunity for members to come together through the shared love of reading and our Cretan heritage.

Members who sign up by January 31, 2026, will receive a complimentary copy of our first selection, At The Palaces of Knossos by Nikos Kazantzakis, as a gift from the PAA. Participants will engage in lively discussions while reading the book before joining us for an engaging final online discussion in collaboration with the Kazantzakis Museum in Crete.

At The Palaces of Knossos is a vivid retelling of the myth of King Minos and the ancient Minoan civilization, blending history, legend, and philosophy in Kazantzakis’s signature lyrical style. Through this masterpiece, readers are transported to the heart of ancient Crete, where the past comes alive with timeless questions about faith, power, and human destiny.

We encourage all PAA/PYA members to take part in this exciting new initiative—an opportunity to explore the writings of the great Nikos Kazantzakis, celebrate our cultural heritage, and build a vibrant community of readers. Together, we’ll continue to inspire future generations through the enduring spirit of Cretan literature and thought.

Stay tuned—two more books will be selected for our 2026 reading series!
